Gender equality initiative ensemble program
YoWo Music was founded by Lena Douglas and Claire Cross in 2015 to give young women and gender diverse teens an opportunity to play in a band in a supportive setting. YoWo strives to nurture confidence in young women and highlight a viable pathway to a career in music, through providing professional female musicians as mentors.
Participants have the opportunity to to be in a band, play original songs with like-minded people, get inspired by professional musician mentors, play gigs, record music, gain confidence and have fun!
From 2015 - 2022 Lena was Co-Artistic Director, Program Manager and Chairperson of the Committee.
